Michael,
I certainly don't think it's worth paying for a fancy style template. No,
the style and glitz on an auction page isn't going to affect my bidding or
buying decisions in the slightest.
You bring up one of my pet peeves about eBay auctions -- those elaborate
auction description pages that are almost a complete website in
themselves... with spinning and flashing animations, music, graphics and banners
and 10,000 words of text (only 20 of which describe the poster being offered) --
and far too often the smallest picture on the entire page is the one of the item
being sold. None of that that glitz and glitter is going to make one bit of
difference in whether or not I bid -- or for how much. But sometimes I find
it so irritating that I just stop loading the page halfway through and move on.
All of these auctions would be much better off spending their time -- and
my bandwidth and download time -- putting up good quality, decent-sized
pictures and a proper description of what they're trying to sell
me.
If you like music while looking at auctions, put a radio, stereo or IPod
next to your computer and knock yourself out -- but don't embed it in your
auction page so that I have to wait to see your item while it
downloads.
Flame Disclaimer: The above reflects my always-humble opinion, of course.
I'm sure there are others who think those incredibly elaborate auction pages are
marvelous.

Subject: [MOPO] is it worth a dime? we all know ebay is all about money. ever try to get a credit from
them? what a joke.
well, last year, when i used turbo lister, i didn't know that it cost
10cents per item to use their designer page. i spent 1.20, unknowingly, to
have "themes" on my sell page..........
in fact, i think their default setting has the designer listing feature,
but i am not sure.
QUESTION..... is it really worth a dime? when i buy something,
do i really care if the seller's artwork is nice or not? i only care about
the condition of the item.
right?
