Hello all
I am currently looking into the history of silent film posters. It
seems that image of these posters have disappeared with the films: If
it gets even remotely 'unknown' to the general public they are nowhere
to be found on the internet.
Its quite easy to find the usual posters like Birth of a Nation and
such but I am more interested in the lesser known films.
So I was wondering if anyone has ever seen a poster of either one of
these films:
A Girl in Every Port (Hawks)
Love Flower (Griffith)
Judith Of Bethulia (Griffith)
So far I have come up with an extremely bad looking image from a VHS
tape of 'Judith' so it seems that there is at least something.
I'd appreciate a decent image of one of them or links as to where more
poster information can be found.
And :
Given the recent debates on the "professor" website, I relayed the link
to a friend who knows nothing about posters and/or scandals so he could
take a fresh look at it. Here's what he wrote:
On the face of it, as an authority on film posters
and memorabilia he appears to be a man you would be keen to cultivate
and draw on his resources.
On the other hand, as I browse the site looking at
the pictures and reading the information, I'm getting a "slightly
spooky" vibe which suggests the Professor is not who he says he is.
Intuitively, therefore, I'd say steer well clear.
But I may be completely wrong. If he is who he
says he is, and the personal history he gives is accurate, it should be
fairly easy to verify the details of his academic qualifications and
work history with those companies and personnel.
If that is true, fair enough: his spookiness is
due to something else.
Fwiw.
Peter
