This is a post I made to NSFGE after Phil Edwards posted a link to this news article at auctionbytes:

when reading this article all I could feel was insulted, even though I have boycotted eBay as a seller for almost 2 years.

Here's my take on the conversation between ebay and frustrated sellers:

Seller #1: ebay is only making it harder for me to benefit from selling on their site

FleaBay: Blah, Blah, Blah

Seller #2: Why shouldn't I be able to create listings on FleaBay's site and have confidence that I won't be traeeted like a fool

FleaBay: Blah, Blah, Blah

Seller #3: All I'm trying to do is make a living

FleaBay: Blah, Blah, Blah

Seller #4: I closed my movie poster & comic book store in 2001 because I thought FleaBay had created the ultimate "Low-Rent" storefront for me

FleaBay: Blah, Blah, Blah

Seller #5: First FleaBay had me make auctions, then Fleabay offers me a store, now it appears they only did this so they could raise my fees, which ultimately are higher cost for FleaBay store items after sale than auctions

FleaBay: Blah, Blah, Blah

Seller #5: When will I be able to find security in the FleaBay site to believe that I'm not being taken advantage of as a seller ??

FleaBay: Blah, Blah, Blah, Blah, Blah, Blah, Blah, Blah, Blah

"Former" seller #21,436 (okay that's me): thankfully I have seen this in other forums. For one thing how San Diego ComicCon's current leaders screwed me when they took away my front & center location of 12 years and my top seniority as a longtime exhibitor (25years), so that they could transfer my location to big corporate interests. I told my friends many months ago that FleaBay would be raising their store fees because I didn't think they realized how much they had driven away from their auction format to a set sale format.

I knew that it had to be impacting FleaBay's bottom line, and now for anyone who heard me back then is shaking thei heads because they really didn't believe it was going to happen.

I stopped selling on FleaBay when (first) they felt my paypal logo was 3 pixels too large, then (second) my visa logo was 3 pixels too large in 2 of 377 auctions - so they ended all 377 auctions and then (third) when they cancelled $22,000 in bids and suspended my account because someone said I was selling forged autographs and without any contact from Fleabay they just cancelled those bids..

That was enough for me. I may spend money there and unfortunately Fleabay does therefore get some of my money, however a small percentage it might have been. But for a power seller to have been traeted so shoddily was just unacceptable to me, and as a person with principles - I just couldn't bring myself to give Fleabay a direct benefit anymore, or I would have just felt like a Fleabay whore.

FleaBay's response to any criticisms:
