And along with the daybill version of the red profile was the composite
colour shots one sheet in Australia from THE GODFATHER.
I'd have to agree that the red profile UK one sheet is the one to have,
though. Well, it's the one I bothered to keep, anyway.
And as far as the US was concerned, the book was the DA VINCI CODE of
the day. A classic trash read and genuine page-turner that had the sniff
that it was written by someone who had some inside scope to the Mob,
unlike DA VINCI which was just re-hashed from other and far more thought
provoking books. DA VINCI is kind of THE CELESTINE PROPHECY of its
period. Or maybe CHARIOTS OF THE GODS.

Something that you might all like to know.
The Godfather US campaign went witrh the fact that it was a number one
bestselling novel. No visual image was needed to convey the power and
magnificence with the story.
However in Europe and the rest of the world the book was less known.
So the guy in charge of publicity in the UK was against the main
campaign from the US and came up with the red profile of Brando on
black background. The rest of Europe liked it as did Australia.
For me thye UK and Eurpean campaign for The Godfather leaves us with
one of the best posters of that era.
Good movie bad poster one that comes up in my mind is the US and UK
campaign for The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. Licence to Kill had one
of the worst campaigns but for me a great 007 film.
