Who would have guessed!?! This just goes to show you exactly how dull the
people at the major studios are... They make a bad movie with an
unbelievably stupid premise - then people start talking about how stupid the
film's going to be - then, the studio sees that everyone is talking about
their stupid movie, so they throw a bunch more money at it.
But, then in the end, all you're left with is a (more expensive) bad film
with (a still unbelievably) stupid premise - a movie that no one in your
target audience has any respect for at all (and they haven't even seen it
yet). Do they really think a hundred million people want to see a movie
that is (probably) so bad it has become a worldwide joke?
Of course, I haven't seen the film yet (perhaps it's brilliant), but knowing
the people involved, I'm not gonna be holding my breath....
Not that they won't make some decent money with the film. As the saying
goes... No one ever went broke by underestimating the intelligence of the
viewing public.
Cheers,
Bob
