Documentaries like this are rarely telecast (how about that for a
word never used anymore) on NBC, CBS, ABC, or FOX.
I have seen good documentary films on HBO, Encore, Showtime, IFC, and
Sundance.
Netflix has lots of documentary film in their library.

You just reminded me: Why We Fight was aired on CBC Television last

I missed it!! Why? Because I was watching The Corporation (another
documentary) on TVO, another Canadian network.
Question (even though I think I know the answer): Do documentaries
like this
ever air on the main US networks?

I just got this film from Netflix. I see a lot of documentaries, if
at all possible, theatrically, but this one I missed when it played
at the Arbor here in Austin.
This film won the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance in 2005.
In addition it was nominated for the
International Documentary Award from the International
Documentary Association and won The Seeds of War Prize at
the Full Frame Documentary Film Festival. The imdb describes that
this award is given to honor the filmmakers each year that lay bare
the seeds and mechanisms that create war.
The film springboards from President
Eisenhower's famous farewell address, in which he created the
phrase "the military-industrial complex" and examines U.S.
military history of the last 50 years and how that history has
been driven by economic and cultural realities. This is no liberal
litany of wrongs or
conservative rah rah rant, but a thoughtful and serious
look at the question of why the U.S. has engaged in
wars across the last fifty years. And why we find our country
engaged in one now.
