Sorry, guys, I think this obsession over numbers is immaterial. One of the most 
enjoyable lists I belong to has less than 20 members, but we still have some of 
the most enjoyable and informative discussions. The number of people on your 
list has nothing to do with anything. When we had 500 members, did we have more 
discussion that we have over the past 6 months? No... not even any more "on 
topic discussion". 

I just don't see the exact number of members has having any meaning at all... 
and certainly nothing to start worrying about or trying to figure out "how we 
fix this". What does it matter if there are 392 or 492 members of MOPO?
