So while eBay would not even exist without those of us who sell there, it is in the "big time" now and the game is all about profits and the stockholders. So of course those who sell more and make more and therefore make more for eBay are going to benefit more in many ways.
EBay is no longer just an internet garage sale, so to speak, and even the US Government and other government agencies sell on it. We are small potatoes.

In reaction to eBay's feedback system having been broken for so many years we set up the feedback system on http://MoviePosterBid.com so that it keeps all feedback on file for reference, but only counts the most recent 100 feedbacks when calculating the "feedback score" it displays. That way, every recent individual feedback comment counts for 1 percent of the total score -- and the users are always looking at a feedback score which reflects the sellers reasonably current business practices. This is a simple thing to do, but it ensures that feedback remains a viable system. eBay could easily do something similar, but as always, they simply don't care any longer. Haven't for many, many years.-- JR----- Original Message -----From: Claude LittonSent: Monday, September 04, 2006 10:23Subject: Re: [MOPO] ebay profitting from BAD FEEDBACKSeriously--------Why do you expect a FOR PROFIT company to give you anything free? Ebay has made it very very clear through the years that they will maximize their profit in any way possible. They are constantly looking for ways to make more money and this is very evident in every aspect of their existence. I would be shocked if they gave anything away after 10 years of watching them.Ebay is still the most dominant auction house on the internet and by now everyone knows the game plan and frankly, whether you like it or not, those are the rules and you do have a choice. (Your choice is to play by the rules or leave ebay)I think their feedback system is worthless when a seller reaches over 1000 feedbacks. At this point the seller can cheat you by simply not replying to any complaint you make and accept your negative. I believe a very simple solution would be for ebay to reset all feedbacks to "zero" every calendar year. This way a seller would have to earn your confidence again. If zero is too harsh, they could reset them by allowing the last 25 so that you do not look like a newbie. This would prevent sellers from ignoring you. I recently bought a poster from a seller and it was not as described. He just ignored me and there is nothing I can do as I prefer not to get a retaliatory negative for a $40 item. He had over 2000 feedbacks. Unfortunately ebay caters to big sellers and cares little about small buyers.CJLVisit the MoPo Mailing List Web Site at www.filmfan.com ___________________________________________________________________ How to UNSUBSCRIBE from the MoPo Mailing List Send a message addressed to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] In the BODY of your message type: SIGNOFF MOPO-L The author of this message is solely responsible for its content.
