Personally, I can do without posts about deceased actors, reviews of movies,
all of which can be found on hundreds of other sites.
All this kind of stuff just clogs up my mailbox without telling me anything
about our hobby.
I would really like this forum to stick to movie poster collecting.

Subject: Re: [MOPO] Sellers should send out Join MOPO flyers?
I think the decline in MOPO membership is probably due to the fact that we
really haven't discussed movie posters on this list for about 2-3 years
now. Remember how things were 5 years ago? Constant discussions about
authenticity, etc... Sure, there were always constant 'for sale' posts -
but there were also in-depth discussions of posters. Now, it's just the
constant 'for sale' posts (interrupted by the odd 'this actor just died'
post or some sort of fight)...
As Dave mentioned, when was the last time you saw a WTB email (and when
was the last time you saw a WTB email - that included buying prices - that
was probably me, around 3 or 4 years ago)? There really hasn't been an
interesting discussion (about posters) here since Dan and I said all those
major 70's inserts probably weren't real (and virtually nobody believed us
for the first year or two).
So, to get things started, here's something that I can't remember seeing
on this list for a LOOOONG time (perhaps ever) - an offer to trade...
If you have a Get Carter (pop art style, special) one sheet - and you want
one of the top ten movie posters ever created, the beautiful Night Tide
(blue style) one sheet - let me know! And, to give you an idea of how
sought-after the Night Tide poster is - in the last year or two I've
offered on Mopo and elsewhere, the highest (and second highest) recorded
price ever paid for a copy of that poster - with no takers. I've also
offered here to pay a decent percentage OVER book value (C10 mint) for a
non-mint, used copy of that poster - with no takers either.
Cheers,
Bob
