** There is no doubt in my mind that this Vertigo poster is REAL. However,
it is from the 1996 re-issue/restoration which was given a lavish 70mm
release in major markets including Los Angeles.
** It is rolled, single-sided and printed on luxurious stock. I used to own
it.
** I recognize it as being from 1996 by what is printed in the lower right
corner. It's very fuzzy in the seller's image but if you look closely, it
has an MPAA "PG Parental Guidance Suggested" rating -- which is obviously
absent from the 1958 original.
** It is not a repro -- it is a theatrical re-issue poster that mimics the
1958 art. It bears no resemblance to the 1983 re-issue one-sheet which was
part of a collection of films held by the Hitchcock estate for more than a
decade (and originally Paramount releases) -- until Universal was given
clearance to re-issue all of them theatrically: the other films that joined
Vertigo's "re-discovery" in 1983 were "The Man Who Knew Too Much," "The
Trouble With Harry" and "Rope."
** More than you wanted to know -- but "Vertigo" was the only film among
Hitchcock's "locked in a vault until 1983" titles -- that was singled out
for special treatment in 1996. "Vertigo's" restoration and poster campaign
was much heralded in 1996. I remember seeing it at the Avco Center Cinemas
on Wilshire Blvd. in Westwood. Driving 3 hours up from San Diego to see a
film like this and examining every inch of its poster aren't something you
can easily forget.

the consignor doesn't say: date, size, or ever use the word "original" or
"repro".
the consignor does show a magnificent image!!!!!
this is another time that the winner either hits the jackpot with a $3000
score, or a 5.00 repro.

....but, why would a repro have pinholes?
