I can't remember how the Eugene Hughes story played out, but did those of you who lost significant sums and/or posters ever consider pooling your resources to hire a private investigator to track him down?

>But Eugene Hughes *was* an "established restorer"... he had been doing linen backing work for people for many, many years prior to going bad. There was no reason to believe he would suddenly turn to the Dark Side one day and rip people off the way he did, it just happened. As for "insurance" I think it's a marvelous idea, but how would you verify it? Any restorer could say they had "insurance" and unless you ask for their policy number and the number of their insurance company so you can verify the policy, how are you going to know?
