jr, your response proves my bias. i only collect prior to 60s, although i purchased PSYCHO insert last week plus an insert from a favorite 65 film.....36 HOURS.
so.............my mindset when talking about posters is always pre-60s.

Well, shoot, you can name about half of the posters from the 1970's through 1990 when the big design fad was to just show the name of the film with some icon type or small symbol... THE GODFATHER leaps immediately to mind as the most prominent example of this style, but there were hundreds of them done during that period. Heck, that logo-only, make-the-poster-look-like-the-cover-of-the-paperback style goes even further back to films like EXODUS.
Better to limit finding posters like this to before 1970, when not showing the star was not commonplace.

quickly, off the top of my head & from my collection, i know the following:
COMPULSION does not have Orson Welles shown ( i have the insert)
SPellbound only shows the forehead of Gregory Peck (i have the OS & but on insert
insert i own, he does appear)
MARTHA IVERS............one sheet...where's Kirk Douglas??
