<font face="Verdana"><b>I want to make sure all members of MoPo are aware of
the
<span style="background-color: #FFFF00">995 LOTS of vintage 8" x 10" stills
</span>(from 2 to 50 stills per lot, including an incredible group of English
"front of house lobby cards" and much, much more, over 5,700 items in all the
lots!) that I have on eBay closing Tuesday night (9/19).</b> What is included
in this weeks items? We have been fortunate to have had several different
consignors who together gave gave us a really amazing group of vintage 8" x 10"
stills, of several types (see far below for more on this). Most of these came
from former theater owners who saved the stills after they used them, or from
old-time collectors who purchased their stills from poster exchanges, or from
former theater owners, and many are actual theater-used ones (which means some
of those have minor defects typical of a theater-used still, like pinholes in
the corners). This
<b>INCREDIBLE</b> group of thousands of stills include <b>LOTS</b> of titles
that are rarely offered for sale!
<br><br>
<b>EVEN THOUGH THERE ARE LOTS OF GREAT VINTAGE STILLS THIS WEEK, every single
one of these LOTS of stills started at just
<span style="background-color: #FFFF00">99 cents with no reserve</span> (per
LOT, not per still!)</b> so there will be surely many real bargains and quite
likely a bunch of outright steals! As of this writing (Saturday night), over
430 of these 995 items are still at their starting price of 99 cents(!), around
600 are still under $3, around 700 are under $5, around 810 are under $10, and
around 900 are under $20! And most of the 100 or so items that are over $20 are
<b>FAR</b> under their regular retail price (the ones you could find anywhere
else). Since each of these lots contain at least two stills (and up to 50!), a
<b>BIG</b> percentage of these lots are still priced at just pennies per still,
and many are from <b>REALLY</b> quality titles!
<br><br>
Obviously, many of these items will get one or more additional bids, but given
the very large number of such items I am selling, it is a virtually certainty
that a fair number will fall between the cracks and go for low prices (and some
for joke prices!). But
<b>YOU</b> can't get those great deals if you aren't bidding! <b>AND YOU HAVE
NOTHING TO LOSE!</b> If you place a bunch of fairly low bids but only get one
or two items, then you are sure to be happy, for you will have gotten some
really good deals, and paid a very reasonable shipping cost (this week only, as
a special offer to our customers, all U.S. customers pay only $5 for shipping
no matter how many of these lots you buy! So you could buy 50 lots of stills
(containing many hundreds of stills) that would be shipped in a huge box and
you would still only pay $5 for the U.S. shipping! This is our way of saying
"thank you!" to our wonderful customers! Outside the U.S. we charge the actual
cost of getting the items to you, plus $2 for packaging materials, and since
all of these are just 8" x 10" and fit into one of our standard mailers or
boxes, shipping outside the U.S. should be very reasonable, even if you get a
lot of items). Even if get nothing at all, you will only!
be out a little of your time, and no more (since this is one substantial
auction of high quality rare movie posters you don't need to travel to, or even
leave your computer for!).
<br><br>
<b><span style="background-color: #FFFF00">YOU REALLY SAVE BIG WHEN YOU BUY
MANY STILLS FROM US THIS WEEK RATHER THAN FROM A BUNCH OF DIFFERENT
SELLERS</span>:</b> We have been frequent eBay buyers, and we know that when
you buy 10 items from 10 different sellers, the shipping really mounts up, and
can turn "good deals" into poor deals. For example, if you buy 10 still lots
for an average of $5 each, but pay $5 U.S. shipping per still lot (because you
bought from 10 different sellers) then you end up paying $100, and the cost of
your still lots doubles from $5 each to $10 each.
<b>BUT IF YOU BUY 10 STILL LOTS FROM US THIS WEEK FOR $5 EACH, THEN YOU PAY $5
U.S. SHIPPING FOR ALL OF THEM, SO YOU END UP PAYING JUST $55 FOR ALL, A GIANT
SAVINGS!
</b>
<br><br>
<b>REMEMBER THAT IN THESE AUCTIONS (as in all my online auctions), THERE ARE
<span style="background-color: #FFFF00">NO OUTRAGEOUS BUYER
PREMIUMS</span>!</b> Other auctions charge around 20%
<b>EXTRA</b>, for no other reason than to line their pockets with your money,
and some even have a $9 minimum buyer premium, so that a $1 purchase carries a
<b>NINE HUNDRED PER CENT</b> buyer premium!. In <b>MY</b> auctions, what you
bid is what you pay, plus a VERY reasonable shipping charge (especially when
you see how great we package orders!). If you have ever bought from any other
major auction company, you are probably still stunned by their buyer premiums
and by how much handling fees they packed onto their shipping charges, but we
never do that!
<br><br>
I know it can be difficult to look over this many items in just a few days, but
remember you can use our exclusive
<b>Current Auction Image Gallery</b> (which is located at
<a
href="http://www.emovieposter.com/gallery/currentauctions.php";>http://www.emovieposter.com/gallery/currentauctions.php</a>
) which has large thumbnails of all our eBay items, and links from each item
to the actual eBay auction. Best of all, this gallery is searchable! You will
really find this a great benefit if you want to look at all of our items this
week! You can simply browse all of our current items by viewing the images in
this gallery (40 to a page, but you can set it to display 20 items to a page or
up to 100 items a page, depending on the speed of your Internet connection) in
our number order, or you can use our search to only see thumbnails of your
specific search terms!
<b>NOTE THAT EACH ITEM IN THIS GALLERY HAS A RECENT BID PRICE LISTED, AND THE
PRICES ARE UPDATED AT LEAST ONCE A DAY! THIS GALLERY CAN BE SORTED BY PRICE
(high to low or low to high), WHICH IS A GREAT HELP TO THOSE OF YOU WANTING TO
JUST FOCUS ON THE BEST (or least expensive) ITEMS!
</b>
<br><br>
<b><span style="background-color: #FFFF00">IMPORTANT! YOU MUST READ THE BELOW
IF YOU ARE LIKELY TO BID ON ANY OF THESE STILLS!</span></b>
We had a computer problem in creating these auctions which we did not catch
until it was too late. The stills are NOT sorted A-Z within each group, as we
always have done. This means the items are all "jumbled" within each type,
making it difficult to find titles of interest, because they are not in
alphabetical order.
<b><span style="background-color: #FFFF00">We have created a GREAT work around
in our gallery (at
<a
href="http://www.emovieposter.com/gallery/currentauctions.php";>http://www.emovieposter.com/gallery/currentauctions.php</a>)
THAT LETS YOU VIEW THE ITEMS IN THE INTENDED ORDER.</span></b> Simply make
sure that this gallery is sorted by "A-Z Within Type" (the Sort By box is next
to the Search box).
<b>WHEN YOU ARE VIEWING THESE ITEMS SORTED IN THIS WAY, THEY WILL BE
ALPHABETICAL A-Z WITHIN TYPE.</b> But
<b>DON'T</b> look at them in this way as the auctions are closing, for they
<b>WON'T</b> be in the order in which they close, and in fact, some that are
side-by-side
<b>THIS WAY</b>, will actually close quite a bit apart from each other. If you
want to view the items in the order in which they close, simply make sure the
gallery's Sort By box is set on "Lot# (Ascending)", and then you will view the
items in exactly the order in which they close. We very much apologize for
this inconvenience, but this gallery minimizes the inconvenience, when you make
use of the Sort By "A-Z Within Type" setting.
<br><br>
Be sure to check out these 995 <b>LOTS</b> of vintage 8" x 10" stills sometime
before they end Tuesday night, September 19th, starting at around 7 PM CST
(either by going to

<b>HOME</b> page, <a
href="http://www.emovieposter.com";>http://www.emovieposter.com</a> or by
finding me by my eBay user ID, emovieposter.com). We feel certain that if you
purchase even one of them and then once you see how honestly we describe them
and how we charge only a very reasonable shipping cost and how we send them
right out promptly and well-packed, that you will declare your independence
from those auction houses with the outrageous buyers premiums, the over-graded
items and the outrageous shipping! Good luck on whatever you may bid on.

<b><span style="background-color: #FFFF00">BELOW ARE SOME IMPORTANT NOTES ABOUT
THE STILLS WE ARE SELLING THIS WEEK</span> (it REALLY pays for you to read
these, if you have any thought of buying some of these great still lots!):
</b>
<br><br>
<span style="background-color: #FFFF00"><b>IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT WHY WE DON'T
ALWAYS PICTURE EVERY STILL IN EVERY LOT:</b></span> This week we are selling
only groups of stills, with two
or more stills from a specific movie in each group. In the case where we are
selling two, three, or four stills from a movie, we
have no problem with showing an image of all of the stills in that group.
<b>BUT WHEN THE GROUP CONTAINS FIVE OR MORE STILLS, WE
NORMALLY ONLY PICTURE FOUR OF THE STILLS.</b> Why? Because we have found that
when we picture say ten or twenty stills, even our
super-sized image of all of the stills is so tiny that you don't get a good
sense of the condition of
<b>ANY</b> of them, and also you may
have difficulty even telling what some of the stills picture! We pull out four
of the better stills from the larger groups (we make
a slight effort to find four "better" ones, but we don't make a BIG effort),
and we solely picture those (but in the case of groups
where the group contains ALL of the stills made for that movie, as in complete
English Front of House sets, and mini lobby card
sets, we <b>TRIED</b> to always picture the entire set, but we may not have
always done this). We have done this the last couple of times
we auctioned large groups of stills, and we found that it worked out well for
both us and for the buyers of the stills!
Note that we don't play any games with this. If there are stills in lesser
condition, we either try to picture those, or write in
words that those stills are not pictured and are in "lesser" condition. We
feel that you can get a good sense of what is in each
lot by looking at the four that are pictured, even if there are a lot more than
four stills there. Note that, in the cases of very
large still groups, it may be that there are duplicates of one or more of the
stills contained within the group. We tried to note
this, but we are certain there are cases where we missed this, so don't bid on
the larger groups if this would bother you.
<b>WE
REALIZE THAT NOT SEEING ALL OF THE STILLS IN LARGER GROUPS ADDS AN ELEMENT OF
"GUESSING" TO BIDDING ON THESE STILLS, AND PLEASE TAKE
THAT INTO ACCOUNT BEFORE YOU PLACE YOUR BIDS! </b>
<br><br>
<span style="background-color: #FFFF00"><b>IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT THE DIFFERENT
KINDS OF VINTAGE 8" x 10" STILLS:</b></span> We are selling five different
kinds of vintage 8" x 10" stills this week.
<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; The <b>first</b> is "<b>English Front of
House lobby cards</b>", which, despite their name, much more closely resemble
U.S. stills. These
normally come in sets of 8 or 12, and have an English rating on them, and of
course, no NSS information. They can be either color
or black and white. We are very fortunate to have been consigned a really
wonderful group of these Front of House lobby cards this
week!
<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; The <b>second</b> kind is
"<b>English/U.S. color stills</b>" that were printed in England, but
<b>HAVE</b> NSS info, and were likely printed for use
in both countries. They can be numbered or unnumbered, and are also found in
sets of 8 or 12.
<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; The <b>third</b> kind is "<b>8" x 10"
mini lobby card sets</b>" that were printed on titles where the studio also
made 11" x 14" lobby card
sets. Sometimes these are exact duplicates of the 11" x 14" cards, except for
the size, including the type of paper stock used.
Other times, they are found in a set of 12 (some people call these "color still
sets"), and those are printed on a thinner paper
stock that is the same as that used for black and white stills. In this
auction, we call this second type of color still "mini
lobby cards", but in future auctions we will refer to them as "numbered color
stills", to avoid confusion (although you can usually
tell which type they are just by looking at the image, for the first type is
laid out just like lobby cards while the second type is
laid out just like stills).
<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; The <b>fourth</b> kind is "<b>unnumbered
color stills</b>". These look just like the numbered colored stills, except
they have no numbers,
and sometimes there can be a very large number of different ones, not just
twelve.
<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; The <b>fifth</b> kind is "<b>black and
white stills</b>". These have been used since the earliest days of movies, and
they are glossy on the
front and not glossy on the back (except for some very recent titles).
Sometimes they will have markings, stamps from the studio,
or pieces of paper taped or glued to the back (these are called "snipes"), and
other times there will be nothing on the back. It
can be very difficult to distinguish original studio created black and white
stills from reproductions (which are sometimes made
from original negatives, and sometimes copied from actual stills), but we have
carefully examined all of these, and we feel certain
they are solely originals (and most of them come to us directly from theater
owners or people connected to the movie business, and
that makes us that much more certain they are genuine).
<br><br>
<span style="background-color: #FFFF00"><b>IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT SURFACE SCUFFS
AND CREASES IN VINTAGE STILLS:</b></span> As anyone who looks at old photos
knows, twenty to eighty photos
are almost certain to pick up faint scuffs and creases in the surface emulsion
of the photo. Vintage stills are the same way. But
when these creases and scuffs are light, you can't see them when you look
directly at the still from straight on, but you
<b>CAN</b> see
them when you tilt the still to the light. We don't consider this a major
defect, because we don't know anyone who displays their
stills tilted to the light. So if a still has minor scuffs and creases that are
not very visible when it is viewed straight on, we
still grade it as "very good or better". The only exception to this is if there
are scuffs and creases through the entire still.
Then we grade it as "lesser", even if the scuffs and creases are not visible
when looked at straight on. We feel most collectors can
accept minor surface scuffs and creases that can hardly be seen from straight
on and are relatively minor. If you disagree, you
probably should think long and hard before bidding on the stills that we grade
as "lesser", or "very good" to "very good to fine"
(but you still will surely be happy with the stills we grade as "fine or
better", because we won't give a still lot that grade if
there are scuffs in the surface emulsion).
<br><br>
<b><span style="background-color: #FFFF00">MANY EBAY SELLERS ASK $5 OR MORE
EACH FOR REPRODUCTIONS OF STILLS THE SAME OR SIMILAR TO THESE</span>, AND MOST
EBAY SELLERS START SIMILAR
ORIGINAL VINTAGE STILLS AT $9.99 EACH</b> but you can buy a lot of stills from
us this week for as low as 99 cents
<b>PER LOT</b> (which means
you could pay pennies per still, if you are the only bidder on that lot, but of
course, there may well be other bidders;
<b>BUT IN OUR
AUCTIONS, THE FINAL PRICES ARE SET BY TWO REAL BIDDERS, NOT BY YOU BIDDING
AGAINST AN ARTIFICIAL RESERVE OR "STARTING PRICE"</b>, which
may well be "too high"). And these are vintage stills, which have collectible
value, as opposed to reproduction stills, which have
NO collectible value. But realize that these are actual vintage stills used in
theaters (or intended for theaters, but not used) and
therefore many have defects caused by use and we could have missed some. If you
are very condition conscious (or would be bothered
by an item having an undescribed minor defect), then you probably shouldn't bid
on the stills we are selling this week which are not
in "fine or better" condition. <b>NOTE THAT WE GRADED THESE STILLS EXTREMELY
HARSHLY,</b> downgrading them to a lesser condition for slight
defects, so that every purchaser should be happy when they open their package!
See our condition grading chart below for further
information.
<br><br>
<span style="background-color: #FFFF00"><b>IMPORTANT NOTICE ABOUT THE
ORIGINALITY OF THE STILLS WE ARE SELLING THIS WEEK!</b></span>
There are many, many sellers of 8x10 stills and some of them (either knowingly
or unknowingly) sell reissue or reproduction stills
as originals. <b>WE HAVE CAREFULLY EXAMINED EVERY SINGLE STILL WE ARE OFFERING
THIS WEEK ON EBAY, AND WE ARE 100% SURE THEY ARE ALL
ORIGINAL!</b> Dating stills can be very tricky, but since almost all of the
stills we are selling this week came to us from two poster
exchanges (one inside the U.S., and the other outside the U.S.) we feel VERY
confident that all these stills are genuine, and
intended for theater use. But know that if you purchase any, and disagree with
us as to release date or originality, you can return
any, no questions asked! <b>WE TAKE THE "BUYER BEWARE" OUT OF BUYING VINTAGE
STILLS</b> (which, given the quality of current reproductions,
is a very real concern, and which has caused collectors to be wary of buying
vintage stills). But we take that fear away entirely
(and of course, once you receive your purchase, you can return anything, no
questions asked)!
