Back in 1994 (or 95 I dont remember) while I was in summer vacation from the university, visiting my family in Nicaragua I came across an old phone book from the late 70s, before the Nicaraguan revolution, when movie theatres there were popular and profitable. I took the time to call many of the theatres listed in small towns asking for posters until I got lucky: I found an old closed theatre in northern Nicaragua. The man who answered the phone told me the theatre had been closed for several years but that he had lots of material and was willing to sell.
The next day I took the bumpy road to the small town in my fathers 4x4 Montero and came back with literarily a ton of posters from the 50s on. I dont recall if I expend between 200 and 300 dollars in the posters and since then I have probably sold to collectors and through Auctions, about a 5% of them posters for about $8,000. Sure the 5% of posters sold have been some of the best from the lot: Tarantula, Revenge of the Creature, Love in the Afternoon, Thunderbolt, Touch of Evil, Cool Hand, etc . Now that I look back I regret selling some of those posters that are so rare and worth much more, but thanks to that find and those sells I was able to pay school expenses have some extra cash for different needs and now posses a large and beautiful collection of posters that are also a good investment. Im very grateful to many member of this list like Andrew Dashwood (my first customer; are you still around?), Larry Wheeler, Sam Sarowitz and John Kisch between others for their help, business and the last for helping me promote with other clients. I love collecting movie posters, theyre beautiful and I have found them profitable. It has been always an adventure finding them, selling them and meeting collectors. If you like please, visit my site, I havent updated it in several years so dont trust the prices but if you like something in it Ill be willing to offer you a fair price and Im interested in trading too. http://www.angelfire.com/biz2/crposters/ Best regards, Carlos Duenas __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
