| Bruce Hershenson Convalescing After Heart

We were surprised to hear today that
eMovieposter.com's leader Bruce Hershenson had to go into the hospital on
September 19th for a heart operation after doctors found that he had a blocked
artery. Thanks to modern medicine Bruce was able to have a simple
catheterization and after several days at the hospital for observation he is
now home covelescing.
Bruce has been a longtime collector & dealer of
movie posters & before that comic books, having even gone through a stint
of reprinting EC Comics back in the early to middle 1970's. I first met Bruce
at the New York Comicon at the Statler Hilton Hotel (now the Pennsylvania)
located on 7th Avenue across from Madison Square Garden back in 1968. At the
time I was just 11 years old & caught the attention of many older
collectors due to my interest in Golden Age 1930's-50's comic books and my
knowledge of artists.
I was commonly seen finding a small spot somewhere
that I could put out some stuff for sale until I was able to afford the
Princely sum of $30 to actually buy space in the "Huckster's Room" in 1969. The
huckster's room was an empty ballroom that you were allowed to sell with your
collectibles on the floor - or if you were lucky enough to find an unused table
in some back area of the hotel you were allowed to set that up.
Bruce and Russ Cochran (who would later become my
major competition as a comic art seller, and even later become Bruce's
father-in-law) were two of the guys I remember from back then as the leaders of
the "EC Movement"
Bruce later moved away from comic books &
relocated to Las Vegas where he won a World
Series of Poker bracelet in a Razz Poker Tournament. Razz is a form of
seven card lowball poker where only the lowest hand wins.
Then in the mid 1980's Bruce became an agent for
Christie's Auction House in New York and helped them host some of the most
fabulous movie poster auctions held until that time.
Since 1997 he has been selling posters on eBay as
eMovieposter.com and he has sold over $20,000,000. in movie posters in the past
20 years. His website hosts one of the finest archives of
movie poster images available on the internet as well as a
great
database of prices he has realized for posters .
