Hey Steve/Mopo:

Actually, Dan shut the site down permanently a little while ago. I don't think
he has any plans to re-open it any time soon (although, a book might be a
possibility). Shame. It was such a wonderful resource (although, I'm pretty
positive that the reprinters were using some of the info on the site to better
their repros and bootlegs).

Cheers,

Bob

  Bob,

Do you have a new URL for the site? I have tried to go to
www.movieposterauthentication.com a few times and it hasn't come up for me.
I've needed some info lately for authentication and have been bummed that the
site wasn't available.

And yeah, I knew the lawsuit comment was crap too, but newbies don't know.
These guys piss me off to no end. They're like cockroaches, you can't ever
kill them all.

You gotta love these lying fools!... Needless to say, but MPA wasn't taken
down because of lawsuits. I should know, cause for the last couple months,
it's been hosted on my servers (and will be hosted there permanently if Dan
ever decides to reopen the site). So, if there was a lawsuit, I would have
received one of the very first subpoena's...

That's another reason why these a-holes will NEVER sue an authenticator -
they'd have to answer for this kind of slander (plus they know where their
products actually come from, and would never want to admit that under oath)...

    Cheers,

    Bob

Well, just heard back from a new seller of the probable $75 Pulp Fiction
Lucky Strikes reprints (a long shot, yes I know). When asked for exact
dimension to within a 1/16th of an inch, and a picture of the area on Uma's
shirt (I've learned not to say cleavage, cause they use that as an excuse to
call me a pervert), this is the reply I got back:

Our description has all those details. As far as a photo in the old E-Bay
days we always took photos for free of our items. I think once in 10 years ther
actual person who we took the photo for bought anything. So we now charge $30
per photo. If you really want to buy a photo of one of our items then PayPal us
the money and we will shoot the photo. The process takes about 10-12 days. We
would be happy to send you a hard print in the Mail.

      Thanks!

So basically in an age of digital cameras that cost $20, this guy has the
audacity to charge for his photos so he can circumvent the question of if these
posters are actually original. I think not. He also talks of the recent site
that was taken down due to lawsuits (Dan's site of course), who was of course
giving out bad, bad information on these known reprinters. Surprised he didn't
refer me to The Professor!

Jesus, every time a dealer is taken down, two pop up in his place to
cheat newbies out of their money. I think he also sells those "minty white"
inserts. Freakin' slags. Oh, eBay user id is postergalleries.

      Best regards,

      Steve
