Michael:

Yes there is at least one poster sans "Cary and..."

I have a one-sheet that has the title "The Bishop's Wife." In the lower left
corner it's listed as 1A, I guess referring to a style-A one-sheet? My
Style-B half-sheet has the title "Cary and The Bishop's Wife."

All of the lobby cards that I've seen have "Cary and" included in the title.
I do have a couple of magazine ads that only list "The Bishop's Wife" as the
title.

I don't have an insert in my collection....care to sell yours Michael? :)

Subject: [MOPO] THE BISHOP'S WIFE ---- q u e s t i o n

I own the insert, and watched the movie, again, tonight

the 1948 film is titled, THE BISHOP'S WIFE, starring cary grant. Yet,
Turner Movie Classics stated that in response to low audience turnout due to
negative public opinion about the title (although critically acclaimed at
the time), the ads and posters called it:

                         "Cary and The Bishop's Wife"

That's exactly what my poster states, and the image of Heritage's sale of it
last year. (Seems like a very rare item).

My question is.....................was there ever a poster without the
words, "Cary and" . My only guess is that TMC was in error, and should have
said that the after the initial screenings and before any posters were
printed that they decided to insert, "Cary and".

Anyone have any knowledge about this? Anyone have the press book to check?

thanks.....................
