I have a poster with a single tape stain in the border (tape is gone, just
the brown outline of the tape remains). I'm pretty sure there's no way to
remove these tape marks short of having the entire poster linen-backed and
"restored", but the art is in really great condition already and this seems
like overkill. The stain doesn't go into the artwork, but it's very dark and
prominent, so I'd prefer to cover it up if possible. Is there an archival
white paint I can just brush or spray over it? Two other solutions I thought
of were finding a slip of paper that matches the color of the border and
applying it on top of the mark, or hiding it in a frame with a matte. I'm
wondering if anyone has other suggestions (besides leaving it alone as
poster "patina"!)?
