Bestine is great in moderation. Rather than a Q- tip, use a thick/ heavy bristle brush. work the brush under the tape and carefully sweep back and forth as you proceed forward with caution. If the tape is stubborn soak on the front as well. Not to worry it will dry back to normal and no loss in pigments. after the tape is gone, soak the area again with Bestine use brush and tissue paper to remove gueee glue.

I am sorry if I haven't been on top of all the resto questions, been busy doing just that. I will try to help out more.

Sincerely,
Dario.

Michael,
I feel for ya! This is why a lot of us sit back in the shadows. I have been told by a reliable source that BESTINE is the produce to use. I was only able to find it at an art supply store. I never did try it yet, but have been told to put it on with a Q-tip, let it sit on the residue, then very lightly scrap it off with a razor blade. When wet, it will change color or whiten the area, but return to normal when it dries. Might want to try it first on a cheap poster first to get the hang of it. Good luck!

Subject: [MOPO] all talked out, here?

last week, someone posted a question about removing tape and/or
tape residue stains from posters. i did not see one response to
this question. years ago, this would have generated huge responses.
i have an insert that i acquired a couple of months ago with
3 stains of tape residue (which i knew about when bidding). the
stains did not bother me; i framed the poster.....and love it. (it is hitchcock's ROPE.) yet, i was waiting to hear comments
about tape stains because if it is an easy fix.......
are we all talked out here? i doubt if anyone searches the MOPO
archives, where this has been addressed often, previously
also, should there be responses, i have a half sheet with 2 grease
stains in the white border. suggestions?
am I correct in stating that bleaching should NEVER be done by
    amateurs?
