First off, on the Canadian piracy issue. I've heard arguments on both sides of
this issue. Same with music piracy. While I think ticket prices are way too
high for the most part, I select the films I will pay to see very carefully.
Part of this is because I am not just paying for my own ticket to go, I have a
family and that adds up. I do feel, however, that bringing a camera into the
theater to copy the movie is wrong, just as I feel downloading music from the
internet for free is wrong. Now, Im sure all of us have copied movies and music
over the years. I've bought a tape or an album and loaned it to a friend to
copy. I haven't done this a ton of times but occasionally over the years I
have, especially to a parent or friend that couldn't afford to buy their own
copy. Shoot me!!

I think we should pay for movies and music. I just think the prices are too
high. But, as with any product, if someone puts their money up to produce
something they have the right to sell it for a profit. The problem I have is,
just like with gasoline, the profit margin is enormous. I know, I worked in the
film business for many years. But then it's my individual choice to go to the
movies, buy a CD or DVD or drive my car less.

Many years ago the film and television industry changed dramatically here in
town because of all the projects that were going to Canada to shoot. A lot of
my friends lost their jobs to cheaper labor and not being able to relocate
their families to Canada. So, with all the rewards that Canada has incurred due
to this, I'm surprised that they ever allowed cameras in the theaters to copy
films. Isn't that sort of like biting the hand that feeds you?

I do have a question for all you movie-goers. Has anyone noticed how the "rude"
level has increased over the past few years at the theaters. It seems everytime
I go now, there are people who don't turn off their cell phones, talk loudly
through the movie, let their kids kick the back of your chair, come in late and
crawl over you to get to a seat, etc, etc. If you ask politely to stop
whatever annoyance, most of the time they give you major attitude and don't
stop. What is with that? I know it's not just L.A. as I have had people on the
opposite side of the map say the same thing. So, any comments?
