I have to say that I am fairly surprised of all the surprise many
members of this find about phishing & spoof emails
I have been getting all of this crap for years and years. Until I
moved my servers as a matter of fact, I used to get 500-2000 spams
every day of the week.. now I only get 50 -100 a day.
one new one was left on my door last week
I came home & "Cox cable" had left a note on my door telling me I was
going to be disconnected.
well seeing as my bill is paid up, I knew something was wrong.. then
I saw the phone number was not a cox cable number, and then of course
the simple fact that COX CABLE DOESN'T SEND ANYONE TO YOUR HOME TO
COLLECT YOUR BILL
so I put the notice in a plastic bag,, and I'm headed to the local
precinct to give it to teh cops to be aware that thieves are
"phishing" for credit card info from donkeys who come home and go "OH
MY GOD COX IS GOING TO DISCONNECT ME.. HERE IS MY CREDIT INFO"
a little intelligence is all you need to be aware that this email
does not come from ebay, that cox did not leave that note on my door
(on saturday night after Cox billing is closed.. get the idea) or
that paypal did not originate this password request
if you pay attention, and check the links and phone numbers.. you
can't get hurt

Folks;
Today I received TWO completely different suspicious e-mails
unlike any I have seen before. Until today, none of the fraud
e-mails I have received had my real name at the top of the header
and they BOTH are in my official eBay message inbox! They are both
from high-dollar automobiles that I have not expressed interest in.
How can this be, and how does this form of spoof actually benefit the scammer?
Just wondering if anyone else has been getting these, too?
