Hello to all

For those of you interested in this sort of thing, here's a rundown of MOPO members I had the pleasure of chatting with/doing business with/meeting/spotting:

Steve Haynes - Cinevent Chairman
Morris Everett and Marty Davis - the gents behind the always exciting annual Vintage Poster Art Auction
Scott Burns - our intrepid leader and MOPO List Owner

Sean Linkenback from Atlanta with his beautiful partner, Richie Halegua from Las Vegas, Ed and Sue Poole the owners of LAMP from New Orleans, and Yours truly, all of which were manning tables at the show, and doing what we can to confuse innocent attendees.

Bruce Hershenson and his young son Luke were seen making the rounds, Grey Smith from Heritage stopped by to say hello, Ken Schacter was busy making deals, and the elusive Walter Reuben was spotted on a number of occasions.

Eric took the time to introduce himself while on a trip in a crowded elevator, Doug Ball brought along young master Spencer and introduced him to the wild world of posters, Alan Heimann from Long Island was accompanied by young Robert in an encore visit, and Adrian Cowdry from across the big pond who made sure that I never left the bar thirsty.

Art Judge led the usual contingent from Syracuse, and Cary Black made sure his perfect attendance remained unblemished.

George Racz, Dave Rosen from Ottawa Ontario, Michael Greenwood from Orangeville Ontario, and Dave Ressler, all of whom spent.....ahem.....time at my table.

Special mention goes to George Turzanski, who reads all the MOPO posts on-line regularly, but is afraid to join. Scott Burns and I did all we could to allay his fears, but only time will tell if we were successful. Are you reading this, George?

Last but not least, my sidedkick Steve Peppiatt who, while not a member of MOPO, knows all the goings on by association.

Appologies to those whom I've seen but forgot to mention, those who attended but I have not seen (now's the time to chime in), and those I've seen but didn't know they're MOPO members :-)

Hope to see you all and a few more next year.

Zeev

Great to hear that, Steve. I was there on Friday and the place certainly
seemed to be abuzz with activity, at least to me, a Cinevent newbie.
However, some of the experienced sellers told me it was a bit slow and they hoped and expected it would be busier Saturday, when most people would have
the time to drive in. And that's obviously what happened. Here's to many
more years of success for Cinevent...

Subject: [MOPO] Cinevent Attendance

Thought you folks might like to know that after a decade of slow decline,
Cinevent attendance this year was up about 7% - the largest single
increase
in attendance since the Vintage Poster Art Auction joined us on Memorial
Day
weekend years ago.

Needless to say, we are delighted to make up a huge check of the numbers
we
had lost, and this should give us all hope that the increase indicates the
rumors of the death of film collectors conventions are greatly
exaggerated!

Hope to see even more MOPOers here for our 40th Anniversary show over
Memorial Day Weekend in May of 2008.
