I knew Jane Powell very well. Her husband Charlie Powell was a early
mentor for me and was the guy who gave me my first break in Hollywood.
Basically by saying yes to my fourth application to the USC Peter Stark
Producing Program. And then by helping me secure a summer internship
at 20th Century Fox.

Charlie was active in the Academy and his work was around the historical
preservation of Film Marketing material. Before Charlie, no one was
collecting or documenting the history of movie marketing at the Academy.

After Charlie passed away, Jane took up his cause and was an active in
collecting copies of these old one of a kind hand painted posters. I
believe some of you came across Jane in your dealings as she sought
these posters out.

I have a copy of this book and it is FANTASTIC. I believe all of us
here on MOPO share one passion in Movie Posters and the art of them.
This book has great images. Nice paper. And fantastic stories of
these early movie poster artists.

Unfortunately, Jane passed away from cancer before the book came out.
This book was her passion and it was her sheer will power that made it
happen.

Amazon has it on sale for $34.00. Which is a bargain for a nice coffee
table style book.

Get the book, you won't be disappointed. I believe all proceeds are
going towards the Academy's Movie Marketing Preservation Library.

Best,

Ira
