David, your letter points to the real tragedy of these stupid inserts.
They've become like autographs; "Hey, this has a COA, so it MUST be
real!" (I have seen my own autograph numerous times on Ebay on Steve
Miller albums, and 99% of them are fakes. hey, homeboy knows his own
signature!) It's pretty obvious they're fakes, especially after that
Professor Powers nonsense, (the professor doth protest too much), but
now that the posters have aged, the water REALLY becomes muddy, and it
will be increasingly difficult to tell fake insert from real insert. Who
suffers? The dealers who are trying to sell actual inserts from these
desirable titles. Newbies who find out they're getting hosed right out
of the gate by unscrupulous scumsuckers. _THE WHOLE HOBBY SUFFERS_. This
is a small group of collectors, guys, especially when compared to stuff
like stamps & coins, and new blood is essential, both to the dealers
who sell and to the future of the hobby. (Someone needs to carry on
that dweeb gene into future generations.) Personally, I just wouldn't
buy an insert from any of these titles unless it came from a theater
manager or someone I really trusted who was absolutely aware of its
provenance.
And David...your grace under fire was huge. Good to see someone count to
ten before hitting that "send" button. Very serene, even-handed
response. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go kick my cat. These
minty-white mo-fos have got my panties in a bunch once again. Who's your
therapist, Lieberman?

Sue Heim first alerted me to this, but I didn't believe it until I saw
it for myself!!
I also posted this on nsfge:
the guy I bought it from on ebay bought it 6 or 7 years ago from
ROKMODATAOL......the known minty white seller. 6 or 7 years ago!!!
the poster has aged somewhat, maybe it was in a brightly lit room? the
paper is not minty white anymore, it is NOT glossy on both sides and
the printing is fantastic.
It does look like every other real insert I've handled.
Now I know EXACTLY what Sue Heim was talking about. She said she had
some fake minty white blade runner inserts she got several years ago
when they first came out. She knew they weren't right so she stuck
them in a drawer. She recently took them out and they weren't minty
white anymore! they looked real to her!
it is not at all like the other minty whites I've had, and I've
handled A LOT. All the ones I've seen up until now could easily be
spotted....from across the room!!
this just shows the danger of these things as time goes on. If I can
be fooled....then god help the new collector.
my apologies.
I think I'll hang it next to my fake godfather insert I bought from
Dan.....and hope somebody breaks in my office and steals it.
