To my knowledge this was the only major scene cut
it would be nice if a DVD came out with the cut scene like with Big
Sleep where they put the pre-1946 version on the dvd with the 1946
version. I think the original cut was a better film that more closely
followed Chandler's novel (I am the #1 Chandler fan. I have 1st eds,
all but 1 of the pulps, and many movie posters). One thing though,
you can see the difference in Bacall's acting ability from both versions.
In the original version, well... I think she had little talent. In
the re-shot scenes she is better, though I think the film would have
been better with a different actress in her role (I can hear the
screaming.. but that's my opinion).
