Gee, I wish I was a big-shot poster dealer or lawyer! Ahh, to think back to
the days before money was such a prominent priority in this hobby---when I'd
talk for HOURS with Norm Lazarson or others about our love for
posters...POSTERS! Now, it seems like so many dealers what to be big-shots,
making as
much money as they can by overpricing their posters that the well of joy in
this
hobby has run dry. I'm just thankful that I was around when things were
different. Are dealers/collectors being asked who has the best collection
just
so that they can be descended upon by this month's big-shot dealer who wants
to offer them a deal they can't refuse? Makes me want to keep my collection
totally private. Greed seems to have taken over---as is the pattern in all
of our society. There have always been vultures in this hobby---but in the
old days, they were pretty much out front about being vultures. Now, they seem
to wear the mask of helpfulness and generosity. I hope all you big shots
enjoy your big money. Give me a two-hour conversation about posters any day.
Rick
