in the publishing business the short tags on the cover , like
"Does Bush Shave"
"See 42 People Killed"

etc

they are called "snipes".

It was an old standard that has probably gone by the wayside in a less literate generation

Hi all,
What is the correct term for the piece of paper (with all of the publicity information and photo description) that is affixed to the reverse of a vintage movie still? I tend to call it a "publicity blurb" -which I know is not the "official" name...I have heard it called a "snipe".....but "in the business", so to speak, what is it really known as?

Thanks,
Diana
