While going through this pressbook for a Robert Taylor / Fess Parker
western THE HANGMAN (1959), I found this suggestion for a theater
promotion
to sell tickets. Chain yore woman to a bed in the lobby!!
I'm not kidding. You can't make this stuff up. Can you imagine
anyone doing this today? In many ways we are much more libertine
than in years past - yet in other ways, the past astounds me.
I hope that Bruce Hershenson will one day make a wonderful coffee table
book with just the outrageous promotional ideas found in the
thousands of pressbooks
he has. That book I would buy.
