I wouldn't presume to answer for bruce...obviously two issues here
desirability of slabbing and what constitutes restoration...hmmm i see a
potential flood of e-mail as the regulars weigh in...my short thoughts.. i
don't think tape on the back of a card is restoration...tape is usually
removed in the process of restoration...just to be absurd and a bit comical
if your sending lobby cards to some unkown third world country for
restoration maybe applying tape to tears is as good as it gets...onto the
slabbing i would be vey surprised if people in the hobby especially those
who are collectors as well as dealers( many of who i assume are).would
embrace it...so many questions would arise..whose doing the
grading..unifromity of criteria etc...bruce's auctions always say what we
call vg -fine are often called near mint by others etc..and i'm a touchy
feely person i like to touch the paper..i have a few laminated (not
slabbing) inserts that are absolutely pristine..they look fine in a frame
on the wall and yes i can take it out of the frame and shake it vigorously
making sound effects suitable for the next matrix movie and it still looks
pristine...but its just not the same as being able to touch the paper( i
don't have a paper fetish). i think when things are slabbed people will be
resistant to removing them for fear of somehow decreasing the grade of the
item which i think ultimately would make this a very sterile hands off
hobby...happy new year to all...Alan
