Bruce,

My main problem with extended bidding is the time and energy required to
follow up on the bidding. How can one hope to bid on 10 or 20 lobbies that go
into
extra innings. At a regular auction it is one lot at a time, bidding is
opened, continues until no more bids are received and then closes...next item.
How
are you going to list 700 items and keep the bidding going. There are many
times I would have spent a buck or two above what I had bid but c'est la vie,
it
went to a higher bidder. Now it's possible these items will drag on and on.
Maybe if you require a substantially higher bid, ie. $5, $10 bid increment (on
items less than $50 or $100) after the normal bid ending to insure that bidders
make their best offers prior to normal bid close and not wait until after the
close to pick up items for a buck or two more , I would feel like I gave it a
fair shot within the regular bidding period, and that if it was worth the
extra $10 dollars for an extended time win, then they could make the decision.
But to continue to extend bidding 10 minutes at a time in $0.50 increments for
a
$30 dollar item is way too much work for me.
