Hi Tom,
thanks for asking..
our newest book (our 5th).... was suppose to be released now (the end
of February)... but we've had some quality problems so it is delayed
until April.. The printer we're using utilizes new lazer ....
something.. anyway, we weren't pleased with the quality of some of the
book so we're having to re-do some of it..
The book is 'Collecting International Movie Posters' - and will be
laid out very similar to our Learn About Movie Posters book. It covers
all the major countries that issue movie posters with histories of
that countries film industry, censorship information, info on the
poster sizes issued for that country and major stamps or seals used,
plus overviews, care and preservation, etc...
We have it showing on the LAMP home page.
We were hoping to have it available for the upcoming show in Chicago
next month.... but we will have to present it at Cinevent instead..

Argentina-dictatorial/repressive/unstable governments that didn't

economics-comparatively poor population when it came to filmmaking
equipment, economics again-almost impossible for a local film
industry to develop when they had to compete against U.S. films for
distribution and screen time without consistent government protection
Belgium-small country sandwiched around countries were film
industry developed earlier... can't name any specifics but if I
remember, alot of Belgians wound up in Germany

Subject: Re: [MOPO] MOPO- most Stupid question ever asked on
MOPO in 13 years; a related question
Tom
That wasn't a stupid question at all! But here is a similar
question that may well BE stupid!
I look up the country each movie is made in, when I sell a
poster from that movie, and I have found that just about EVERY
country in the world made TONS of movies locally (although a
lot of them never made it to the U.S., of course).
But here is a real oddity! I have only encountered a tiny
number of movies that were actually made in either Argentina or
Belgium, and yet, as we all know, these two countries produced
a ZILLION posters! Why did two countries that seem to have had
next to no movie making print posters for so many movies? You
would think that if they were so "movie crazy" in Argentina or
Belgium then a local movie industry would have developed there.
What is that about?
Bruce
