I'm with you Richard. The film is my number one film. There are several spots
in that movie that get me. The scene in the court when the preacher tells Scout
to stand up, "your father is passing." That one kills me everytime. The scene
when Atticus asks Tom Robinson, "did you rape Mayella Euell" and with
incredible emotion Brock Peters delivers the line "No...., Sir." The final
scene that you speak of, to me, is one of the best written and choreographed
scenes ever. The sequence, the narration, the camera angles, just great.

I had to speak at a funeral a few years back and I used the line Scout says at
the end while standing on the Radley's porch, "you never really know a man
until you've stood in his shoes and walked around in them." I could barely get
the line out and breath at the same time it is such an emotional statement.

It's so interesting the films everyone lists. Let's us have a little peek into
each other's personality. It's nice to know there are a lot of other
sentimental fools out there. Heck, I cry at Hallmark
commercials..........................

Not mentioned by others....but the ending of TO KILL A MOCKINGB IRD when
Scout sees Bo Raley behind the door....gets me every time....I don't even know
exactly why I weep so deeply at that moment....and of coarse...just a little
later...when the camera moves back through the window...showing Atticus sitting
on the edge of the bed..."still being there in the morning"....Gets me every
time....even now as I write this.
