Are you one of the few collectors who have not yet discovered the wonderful movie posters from Poland? If so, we urge you to carefully look at this great collection, and consider adding at least one to your collection. Most Polish posters have completely different images from those printed in the U.S., and they are often 100% different from the corresponding U.S. poster (and often, the image is really wild!). It is interesting to note that Polish posters are often very surreal, and sometimes have next-to-no connection to the movie they are advertising (in some cases, it seems that the poster artist was told the *NAME *of the movie, but nothing else about the movie, and they created whatever image that title suggested to them, and many Polish posters have really striking, and often dark images that can be displayed and enjoyed, even if you are not at all a fan of the movie they advertise). *WARNING!* Once you buy a few of these, you are in danger of becoming "hooked", and you may find you need to keep purchasing them on a regular basis. If this happens to you, don't say we didn't warn you! *A SPECIAL NOTICE ABOUT THE COLLECTION OF 24 SWEDISH POSTERS WE ARE SELLING THIS WEEK:* We have been consigned a really great collection of 24 Swedish posters, mostly from the late 1920s and early 1930s! These posters have great graphics, and are from titles where it is usually completely impossible to find an original U.S. poster. Not only are these posters generally quite attractive and very rare, but they are also in remarkable condition (they were discovered around 20 years ago in an archive from the printer that originally printed the posters; they had saved one or two examples of each poster they had printed, and the archive was broken up and sold around 20 years ago, and one of the people who purchased posters at that time from this amazing archive has consigned them to us to sell at this time!). *A SPECIAL NOTICE ABOUT THE GERMAN POSTERS WE ARE SELLING THIS WEEK:* Note that included among the 56 German posters are some *REALLY* excellent German posters (most are unfolded and in wonderful condition), and we know that some people will ask us if we can provide any history on how we were consigned these wonderful rarities! Here is some more information about these posters (which come to us from a single consignor): Several of these posters were bought 20 years ago by a major German dealer directly from the distributor's store house just before they were destroyed, and they had never been folded. No one other than that dealer had the chance to buy those at that time. The rest of the posters are from a German auction house that sold posters from a worker of the printing office where they were printed and he took a few to his home. Some of those posters were unfolded, and some were folded in the usual way. *These posters are extremely difficult to find in such high-grade condition, even in Germany!* Thursday auctions: On March 20th, we added a great group of 667 27" x 40" mostly rolled one-sheets from the 1980s to the present (with a few from earlier years) and they close on Thursday, March 27th! So why not see them in our Gallery now at http://www.emovieposter.com/gallery/thursdayauctions.php? *A SPECIAL NOTE ABOUT THE ORIGINALITY OF THE 667 POSTERS WE ARE SELLING THIS WEEK:* Many collectors would like to add posters from their favorite movies of the 1980s onward to their collection, but they rightfully are afraid they will be sold commercial posters (or reproductions or bootlegs), rather than actual posters either used in theaters or intended for theater use. *WHEN YOU BUY FROM US THIS WEEK, YOU HAVE A GUARANTEE THAT YOU WILL BE BUYING A GENUINE ORIGINAL MOVIE POSTERS!* This is because all of these posters come to us either from theater owners, or from advanced collectors (often ones who purchased the posters right when the movies first came out), people who know how to distinguish an original poster, and also, we here at eMoviePoster very carefully scrutinize every poster to make 100% certain it is genuine! But you don't have to take our word for it! If you purchase any poster this week, and you have the slightest doubts about its originality after you receive it, it is fine for you to return it for a full refund (but we virtually never get a single poster returned, because we reject any poster that is consigned to us if we have the slightest doubts about it!). Note that we only included 27" x 40" one-sheets in this auction! Sometime in the late 1980s studios began printing their posters in a 27" x 40" format (it was a gradual change). We also auction 27" x 41" posters (which almost all date from before 1990), but we do that in a completely separate auction from this one. *EVERY POSTER IN THIS AUCTION MEASURES 27" X 40", UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED* (there are a few other posters with slightly odd measurements, but there are NO 27" x 41" posters). *A SPECIAL NOTE ABOUT THE CONDITION OF THE ITEMS IN OUR CURRENT AUCTION: * Normally when we sell movie paper, we grade the posters on a scale that allows for some defects typical of 30 to 75-year-old movie posters that were actually used in theaters. Such posters often have some minor wear at the very least, and it is next to impossible to find posters that have no wear at all, and it would be silly to have a grading scale where no posters would qualify for "very good to fine" (or better grades), so we use a more "relaxed" scale that allows for very minor defects in our "very good to fine" grade. But in this auction, we are selling exclusively posters from the last 20 years, and those posters CAN be found in excellent condition, because there were dealers and collectors who purchased these posters unused, and kept them in wonderful condition. So for *THIS* auction, we grade on a *MUCH *stricter scale! We downgrade posters to "very good to fine" for very minor defects (things like a single tiny tear in the border, or faint scuff marks in the edges). We further downgrade to "very good" posters that have several of these types of defects, even though the poster would probably qualify as "fine", if it was from the 1940s! We use this "sliding scale" grading because it allows us to better convey the poster's true condition to our buyers. If we used the exact same scale for all posters, then most 1920s posters would be graded as "fair" or "poor", and most 1990s posters would be graded as "fine", and we realize that that benefits nobody! In this auction, we have given a more detailed overall condition grade ("fine", "very good to fine", "very good", "good to very good", "good", and "fair", with only 3 "poor") for each poster. We felt this would help bidders identify items they want to bid on more easily. Of course, we still strongly recommend that you look at our super-sized image to see the extent of the defects. Know that we generally grade *FAR* more harshly than any other dealer we know! A 1990s poster that we grade as "good" or "good to very good" may well be one that many collectors could display on their wall just as it is, and may well be one that many other dealers would grade as "very good". So please don't reject a poster because it has a grade of "good" or "good to very good". Please study our supersized image and see if the defects are the sort that you can accept. *These are true NO RESERVE auctions with many great deals!* Remember that, in *BOTH* of our weekly auctions (unlike some other sellers of vintage movie paper), every single one of our items truly start at 99 cents with *NO RESERVE!* And we are not talking about the super-inflated shipping and crazy "buyers premiums" you see in other major auctions! In *OUR* auctions, you can purchase up to FIFTEEN 99 cent items and your total cost is $14.85, plus a very reasonable $9-$11 U.S. shipping charge for any of the posters in either our Tuesday or our Thursday auctions no matter how many you get in either set of auctions!
