Frankly, I have no idea how difficult this poster is to obtain. The movie has some sentimental value (my wife and I have watched it many times together), and while looking at moviegoods.com I just picked the version that I liked the best. Feel free to quote outrageous and/or unreasonable prices, I can say no, politely, with the best of them.
I don't think that it is Jack Davis art -- although definitely his style. (I assume this because it is not something I collect.) I can understand your placing limitations on its condition but please explain why the person must price it reasonably. Why can't the owner be a little unreasonable? If I had a very rare poster that I was willing to part with, I would certainly ask a "reasonable" or maybe unreasonable premium. Considering the offerings on ebay of certain sellers who consistently overprice their common items, this poster seems worthy of an "unreasonable" price. When I want a poster that I have been looking for, for a long time, I just ask for it and let the chips fall where they may. I can always say no or try to obtain a lower price. Why prevent someone from offering you a rare poster but place a restriction on them up front by telling them, don't ask a lot for it? At least this is how I interpret your request. I have seen a number of requests like this in the past and even replied to them because I own many posters that i am willing to part with. Unfortunately for most people, I have ceased replying to these requests (I do not have this poster) as they interpret the word "reasonable" to mean "very cheap". Claude Litton PS: Anybody have any Warner Oland Chans they are willing to sell me? I will pay an unreasonable amount if I do not own the poster. Get trade secrets for amazing burgers.
