I'm just curious....

I know in the art world, if I owned an original, say oil on canvas, I
alone can dictate if I want copies made to sell, the original artist
gives up this right once it is sold. So I'm wondering if I own, say the
original artwork for Attack of the 50ft Woman...I should be able to
dictate copy right infringements for someone producing reprints can I
not?

If a studio commissions the painting they own it and the rights for the
posters to be made...that is until they sell the original artwork
off...then they lose that right once the original passes hands.

I just see all these quality reprints showing up on flea-bay and
wondering if anybody could put a stop to it.
