There was a major fire at Universal in Los Angeles today that destroyed the "Back to the Future" courthouse square set, heavily damaging the famous clock tower. Also destroyed were 2 often-used New York and New England street sets and the mechanical King Kong that terrorized tram riders.
There was also the loss of video and film stored in a vault--40,000 to 50,000 items, including every film Universal has produced and footage from countless Universal TV series from "I Love Lucy" to "Miami Vice." Luckily, duplicates of everything are kept at another location.
