You know what Rich, it's been up for 8 years and it's fine. When you try it for
that long, please give your advice!

I would absolutely not wrap the linen as I would a painting

as many of you know I am an art dealer too and paintings are wrapped this way
for several reasons but the main one is to keep the canvas taught

posters have a different tactile strength & stretching the canvas to wrap
four sides would defintely apply pressure that the poster should not have and
you will see cracking in the poster over time. If I were to use a wood frame, I
would only staple the four sides gently & either flat or just wrap the top edge
without looping the linen "over & back" in other words, only fold over (one
single fold)

by the way, for huge posters there is actually an item that looks alot an old
roll-up movie screen like you had in school
the linen fits inside a slot that clamps shut at top and you then add one
more on bottom to keep the linen from curling & bulging

This may be a bad idea, but could you have them linen backed with a couple
of inches of linen on each side left, then "gallery wrap" them onto a wooden
frame...like a canvas?

i have wall to wall, ceiling to floor posters in my media room. nearly
70 in total. 3 are three-sheets (The Stranger, Gaslight and To Each His Own).
i have been collecting for 20++ years. i once had 7 three sheets displayed.
(thankfully my framer salvaged my metal frames.)

i am now debating removing one three sheet and would be able to hang 9
inserts, or some combination of half sheets and inserts for that space.

it kills me to not have many favorites titles not displayed. sought
after-top titles.

three sheets are great if you have just a few posters. and they have an
awesome presence. but...........

what do collectors really do with six sheets?

Yes, if you don't do it too tightly. Do that too tightly and you could pop
the poster
right off the linen. Remember, it has to breathe. Also, you take the risk
that it will get soiled.
You know, your signficant other throws a drink at you and it hits Bacall
instead. Bad.

This advice from the six sheet King.

    Sorry, folks, I couldn't resist.
