tonight a thought that came to minon this Book....
most movies today are like a 12- count box of crayons...- trite -
predictable - oversatured with CGI
however no story or ability to make you want to- suspend
dis-belief..... Yes a good story makes reality BLUR and Imagination
wander.
and the story engulfs you with the story, the Images support the story
and the characters , and set designers
and Musicians and foley - make the story appear and sound real and
memorable. The posters assist the
story with a trademark imagery...
Adlers Book in 1st few pages is like getting a giant " 64 box of
crayons."..... it is so packed with details that enhance , and paint a
picture that its like a combo of history channel, all the pulp novels
ever written,
and a tribute to all aspects of the 40s pop culture..
As far as original story.... this reminds me of any film that sticks out
in history,, Its always the " sleeper"
that no one considered.. because most make storys out of need to make a
deal... this one clearly
is more... Its so powere packed with Imagery and details that only
someone that had experianced could
relate and recounts.. His words take you on a trip that is like every
movie from the period rolled up into one.. which doesnt surprise me with
his wealth of film history to draw upon.
Where as many of the younger writers of Today try to Emulate a period in
Time that they have no recollection of other than seeing
documentries.... this Book fills you into the true ambiance of the period,
and the subtle peeks behind the curtain of the way things were in this
noir ladened morsel.
You feel teleported back,, I can even smell the smells as he dscribes
them and the details so vivid
I can smell smoke in the room....
Each page so far has been like a retro dime novel and keeping my
interest,, building a story.
the Market for this as a film is a no -brainer the recent films have
missed the most important part.- a story
that translates into visuals.. and is unusual.concept....
here it is laid out like a screenplay on steroids. interesting.....
more to come
DONT BUY THE BOOK YET - IT may have a lousey end!
