About British Quad Movie Posters The standard movie poster size in England is the British quad. Unlike the standard poster of almost every other country, quads are wider than they are tall (similar to U.S. half-sheets, but much larger), which makes this a very popular size among collectors, for it is far easier to display British quad in most standard houses, for they much better fit over couches, desks, and chairs than do vertical format posters. In addition, British quads often have completely different images from that of their U.S. counterparts. The most desirable British quads are those from movies that were made in England ("country of origin" posters). We are also offering 182 Thirty x Forty movie posters most of which are an in great condition: BLUE HAWAII Thirty by Forty poster '61 Elvis Presley plays a ukulele for sexy beach babes! About the Rarity of 30x40 Movie Posters Thirty by forty posters have been made since the 1930s, but few theaters ever ordered them, making them FAR more rare than one-sheets of the same titles. Why? Because they were printed on a much better paper stock than that of one-sheets, and the studios charged between five and ten times more for these posters, so only the biggest theaters ordered them. Many collectors do not realize these sizes exist, but there is a great argument for why thirty by forties should sell for more than corresponding one-sheets, which is that they are printed on a much better paper stock, don't have the annoying foldlines of regular folded one-sheets, and are a jillion times more rare! We have seen high grade thirty by forties continue to rise in price as more and more collectors become aware of them, and we expect this trend to continue. The collection of thirty by forties we are offering this week include many titles that are both rare AND desirable! Best of all, many are in really wonderful condition, and very few have any annoying tiny creases (referred to as "crinkle marks" in the hobby)! We really could go on listing many, many more additional GREAT titles, but we would assume that you want to see the images! So why not see them in our Gallery now? Be sure to visit this week's Thursday Special Notes page ( http://www.emovieposter.com/auctions/special.php?id=20080717) for more details about these special auctions! Change to Our Galleries Last Tuesday we discovered a very important flaw in our online gallery. The problem was that our online galleries updated every five minutes, and we have a warning at the top of each gallery that says that the results may be five minutes out of date. But at the very end of each auction, this sometimes created a problem when someone bid in the very final minutes of the auction. Our gallery updater sometimes missed catching that bid during its update, and it sometimes reported an auction had closed, when in fact it had been extended. Of course, the auction itself was still going, and the auction itself had the correct time, and never reported that it was closed when it in fact was still open. But some people were solely looking at our gallery, and refreshing it, and at least a couple of people saw mistaken information in our gallery, and of course we cannot have that, even with our warning paragraph at the top of our gallery. So here is what we have done. We have changed how the gallery works so that when an auction is in its last 10 minutes, instead of displaying the high bidder and time remaining, the following message is displayed in the gallery on that auction listing: "This item is closing now! View the individual auction page to see the price and bidder details!" In addition, this message will display up to 10 minutes AFTER the auction has closed, so there is no chance it will display "closed" until an item has 100% closed. This change was in place for the July 17th Thursday auctions, and it seemed to work perfectly! We continue to actively seek feedback from all buyers, to find any changes we can make that will improve our auction site, so if you have any ideas for us, send an e-mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and let him know what they are! These are true NO RESERVE auctions with many great deals! Remember that, in BOTH of our weekly auctions (unlike some other sellers of vintage movie paper), every single one of our items truly start at $1 with NO RESERVE! And we are not talking about the super-inflated shipping and crazy "buyers premiums" you see in other major auctions! In OUR auctions, most weeks you can purchase up to FIFTEEN $1 items and your total cost is $15, plus a very reasonable $9 U.S. shipping charge for any of the items in our Tuesday and Thursday auctions (but please know that the items from the two auctions CAN NOT be combined as the Tuesday items must be sent in flat packages while the Thursday items must be sent rolled in tubes)! YOU can't get the great deals that happen week after week in our auctions if you aren't bidding! AND YOU HAVE NOTHING TO LOSE! If you place a bunch of fairly low bids but only get one or two items, then you are sure to be happy, for you will have gotten some really good deals. Even if you place a bunch of bids and get nothing at all, you will only be out a little of your time, and no more. We feel certain that if you purchase even one of them, and then once you see how honestly we describe them and how we charge only the actual shipping cost and how we send them right out promptly and well-packed, that you will declare your independence from those auction houses with the outrageous buyers premiums, the over-graded items, the misleading images that obscure defects, and the outrageous shipping! View Our Items with Our Auction Galleries, Now With Large OR Small Thumbnails OR a text view! It is FAR easier to look at our items through our Tuesday Auction Gallery and our Thursday Auction Gallery. We have galleries with the option to browse with large thumbnails, small thumbnails, or in a text view. PLUS these galleries are searchable by star, director, genre, year, or anything you want to search for! In case of outages, we have backup versions of both our online galleries. But you can't get there if our main site is down, if you don't have a bookmark to them! So, please add http://www.emovieposter.info (where our backup galleries are found) to your favorites/bookmarks. We have lots of great auctions coming up! On Tuesday July 22nd, we added 600+ rolled non-U.S. posters from 27 countries, including lots of great Polish posters! On Thursday July 24th, we are planning to add hundreds of 27" x 40" unfolded one-sheets! We have a great weekly e-mail club! Our club has 3,861 members, and many weeks we make great bonus offers to club members who buy multiple items from us at auction! So if there is ANY chance at all that you might end up buying a number of items from us at auction in future weeks, then you have a LOT of incentive to join the club (if you are not already a member) because we will keep on giving away excellent prizes to those members of the club who buy multiple items. We run fun weekly polls, which a couple of hundred participate in each week, with great prizes for randomly selected members, plus we give news about the hobby in general and our auctions in particular! Why not join the club today (if you are not already a member)? You'll at most receive ONE e-mail a week (note that we do NOT send update e-mails like this one to members of our weekly e-mail club, because the information is duplicated there, so if you join our club, you will cease to get these "update" e-mails), and your e-mail address is NEVER given out to anyone, and you have a great chance to win great prizes, and you can quit anytime! Just go to http://www.emovieposter.com/mail/clubsignup.php and fill out the super simple form, and you will be a member, and qualify for the great club bonuses! Remember to check out our auctions... Don't forget to check out our 653 TUESDAY ITEMS on our website sometime BEFORE they end Tuesday, July 29th, beginning around 7 PM CST by going to http://www.emovieposter.com/agallery/13.html And also be sure to check out our 275 THURSDAY ITEMS on our website (at Thursday Auction Gallery) sometime BEFORE they end Thursday July 24th, beginning around 7 PM CST by going to http://www.emovieposter.com/agallery/14.html And you can always access our galleries by using the link from our homepage, http://www.emovieposter.com.
