MessageAhh...I bow to your superior knowledge of dead crooners.

There's more info on Mr. C here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perry_Como

I also remember Perry well, especially that dreadful Catch a Falling Star that
was his biggest hit. It's gotta be right up there with How Much Is That Doggie
in the Window as one of the more annoying hits of all time (along with the
Chipmunk Song).

Years later SCTV did a great sendup of him, with a cardigan-clad Eugene Levy
playing Perry so laid- back that he sang while lying on the floor! LOL

Absolutely not. Mr. C was definitely Perry Como. He had a "request" segment
on his TV show and the Melotones-like group would start it each week with the
refrain "Sing to me, Mr. C, sing to me." FRANC

P.S. I'm not as old (or as cranky) as John McCain, but I did watch this show
when I was five.

Bing Crosby is Mr. C, I'm guessing...

            (Perry Como)?

            And you won't go wrong
            If you take a song
Sung by Frankie Boy or Mr. C
            Put 'em in a box
            Tie it with a ribbon
Throw 'em in the deep blue sea

            ###########################################################

"Put 'em in a Box, Tie 'em with a Ribbon, and Throw 'em in the Deep
Blue Sea" is a popular song.

The music was written by Jule Styne, the lyrics by Sammy Cahn. The
song was published in 1947.

The song was introduced in the 1948 movie Romance on the High Seas,
where it was sung by Doris Day.

            ###############################################################

            You can take the moon
            Gather up the stars
And the robins that sing merrily
            Put 'em in a box
            Tie it with a ribbon
Throw 'em in the deep blue sea

            You can take the flowers
            Down in lovers lane
            And that sentimental poetry
            Put 'em in a box
            Tie it with a ribbon
Throw 'em in the deep blue sea

Not for me, all that stuff
The dreams that ruin your sleep
            Not for me, had enough
Love is one thing you can keep

            You can take the plans
            And the wedding bells
And whoever sings "Oh Promise Me"
            Put 'em in a box
            Tie it with a ribbon
Throw 'em in the deep blue sea
'Cause love and I we don't agree

            (Bridge)

            Hansoms through the park
            Kisses in the dark
            All the promises made faithfully
            Put 'em in a box
            Tie it with a ribbon
Throw 'em in the deep blue sea

            And you won't go wrong
            If you take a song
Sung by Frankie Boy or Mr. C
            Put 'em in a box
            Tie it with a ribbon
Throw 'em in the deep blue sea

Not for me, all that stuff
            Not for me, had enough

            You know what to do
With good old "Tea for Two"
And the girl for you, the boy for me
            Put 'em in a box
            Tie it with a ribbon
Throw 'em in the deep blue sea
'Cause love and I we don't agree
