After many years we have shut our eBay store and apart from a few weekly
auctions on the site to retain a modicum of additional brand visibility on
eBay, our primary time and effort will be devoted to our website at
www.cinemarts.com and a couple of other online venues that will be announced in
due course.
Like most long-time sellers there we have found that trying to function within
the ever-changing and often hostile environment to be found at eBay these days
is simply too much hard work to keep up with (in more ways than one) and
discovering some day-to-day anomolies on the site (our number of feedbacks
fluctuating by 2500 was the last one, and a DSR rating that was up and down
like a bride's nightie and a feedback "ratio" that went from 97.2% to 99.7%
depending on what hour you looked at it) gives us no faith in the site
stability or security.
Selling original movie memorabilia is a specialist business - something I am
sure all such professional dealers and serious and informed collectors realise.
Sadly, the direction eBay is heading is not to provide a venue for specialists
in any field. Their completely draconian approach to dictating a shipping cost
(so the seller absorbs such costs and gives eBay a greater FVF double-dip) for
items that indeed require special handling in their packing make it tough for
sellers - US based sellers and those of us who work internationally.
