Hi Phil: As I just wrote to another similarly despondent responder -- I tend to price my stuff low with no reserves to SELL -- but if I was a full-time dealer -- I'd be very alarmed using eBay (or any other place other than MoPo) as a venue. If I was a dealer, I think I'd lose money on everything, esp. with eBay's Gestapo tactics. Doing the math, I think it's IMPOSSIBLE for a person to make a living on eBay unless he/she is satisifed to make a penny profit for each item after fees. And have you noticed how slow people are about paying? It's like they have no fear now that they can't be hit with negative feedback. It's the shits. A few years ago represented the start of my "transformation" from a 100% consumer activist -- to fully realizing the forces working against sellers all the time. Just horrible. Someone is going to get a good deal on my signed Bancroft items -- IF they can find it. My only solace is if it sells for just $10 -- I'll know it will go to someone who appreciates it, like a person walking by a garage sale who can't believe his/her eyes. Have people forgotten who Anne Bancroft was? I'd like to think that buyers are just standing on the sidelines, desiring not to make purchases on "guilty pleasures," only buying the essentials, you know, like food, water and electricity.... -kuz. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED]: [EMAIL PROTECTED]; [EMAIL PROTECTED]: Re: [MOPO] Any fans of "Mrs. Robinson" before she was "Mrs. Robinson?"Date: Fri, 24 Oct 2008 08:36:39 +1100
eBay has tanked more than anything to do with the economy. Man oh man, it's just "sitting there," with no watchers and no bids. Has the economy for movie collectibles really tanked on eBay? What a test this will be. Thank goodness I'm not a full-time dealer worried about profit margins! http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQfgtpZ1QQfrppZ25QQsassZhigte -kuz.
