Hey Gang;
With the recent talk on this forum of Las Vegas, I can't help but want
to actually stay on topic for those who are interested...
Granted, I'm not much of a "Ramblin' Gamblin' Man", however, these last
couple of years with my company's annual trip to Vegas for our conventions, I
have discovered my new interest in the movie-related slot machines.
Several years ago, I first discovered The Munsters and The Addams Family
games. Since we were given money to gamble with, I figured I'd reap more
satisfaction in supporting my favorite studios, rather than the 'standard'
games, since they're known to suck your wallet dry anyway. With them being
'penny
slots', at least they took awhile to do so...
Last year, I discovered yet even MORE movie-games, such as my favorite
subject, Universal Monsters (Monster Mansion it's called with the likenesses
of Frankenstein, his bride, the Wolf Man, Dracula, and The Mummy... The
Creature From the Black Lagoon happens to have his OWN game). Also new to me
that
time around was a cool Alien game where in the Bonus Round you choose from a
batch of eggs hoping to pick the one with the highest points. Its spin-off AVP
(Alien Vs. Predator) was also there, but seemed to not have as good of a
payoff.
The new King Kong movie had its game, too, but it wasn't as exciting and
really sucked your money fast... kinda like the movie itself.
The most popular at the time were the Star Wars games with motifs of both
Empire and Jedi, but I didn't get much of a chance to play, as they were
always taken.
The coolest that year, though, was a psychadelic Twilight Zone game with
cool soundbites of Rod Serling.
This last year I discovered my newfound love for the perfect gin martini,
and found that I could either plop down money at the bar for the premium
drink, or just stick my money in a machine as they brought me well-drinks for
free... I figured either way, it would cost me money, so I might as well be
entertained...
There's a new game of Indiana Jones, but I never got around to playing
it...
The newest movie-related games this year were improved with Hi-Fi sound
from BOSE in the chairs' speakers... Dirty Harry takes your money pretty fast,
but sounds great with gunfire and helicopters. The most magical of all is a
dreamy Wizard Of Oz that would make any fan melt.
I'm sure I've forgotten to mention a few, but as usual, my memories of
Vegas can be a little muddy... Whether you gamble or not, all movie fans ought
to check them out at least once.
