Yes, a great story.
If anyone is interested in early Hollywood scandal, then THE DAY THE
LAUGHTER STOPPED by David Yallop is hard to beat.
It covers the Fatty Arbuckle case in enormously well-researched detail and
tells one of the true tragic tales of Hollwyood (or more rightly, San
Francisco) police and political corruption, media manipulation and hysteria.
It really is extraordinary - and once read, never forgotten - and as Fatty's
career never recovered and the case is still summed up erroneously today by
those who remember reading about it over the years - the real legal outcome
at the time is astonishing to read.
