Realistically, the stills were the areas where there were some real
benchmarks set. But Profiles has found that market and done well with it.
The posters appeared to bring good money but there were some real
steals there as there were many very good, more contemporary titles
in large quantities! Some lots I felt were more on the retail side
but many of the poster lots sold for wholesale prices as there was
so very much material.
It was a good sale for a massive amount of material.

Subject: Re: [MOPO] OT?: Profiles in History auction
Well I was in the room bidding & it took me so long to win anything I
thought we might not get anything
fortunately we did get to spend a lot
I bid on all the large lots and they were crazy
I bid up one of my best friends to $54k on the 11,000 poster lot
(there were really 30,000 posters & lobbies there)
the stills lots (the huge ones) actually sold for reasonable prices
when you consider that 500,000 stills might retail at $5,000,000
however the file drawer lots of posters - alot went for close to
retail and it wasn't until we were all getting tired that prices
dropped enough for me to win stuff
the keybook stills were universally outrageous. More power to those
folks. 2 buyers each spent almost 500K each on keybook & top quality
stills lots
If you didn't go to the pre view you didn't know what there was. I
was there and there was a lot of great stuff to be had. some of it I
won and Sean too who I was also bidding for
but yes. in general the prices were high unless you really examined
the lots like Sean & I did and Heritage and several other buyers
to be honest.. Ihope we see another auction like it sometime soon
