The precision and emotional accuracy with which the ensemble cast
of THE LAST PICTURE SHOW was assembled, has not, in my opinion, ever
been bested. Sam Bottoms was certainly an important role because he was
the lynchpin on which the empathy of the audience coalesced.
I am certainly sorry to hear this, as he was much too young.
