Agreed. If you just want a blu-ray player, I've started seeing them for under $200.
If you don't already have a DVDR, it's almost a why bother now? DVD-recorders are already dropping below $100 for many models and will only continue their downward spiral as companies will try to phase them out much quicker than they did with VHS. Some Blu-ray recorders are already being discounted to about half the price you just mentioned in Japan, so give it six months or so here in the US and they will be much more affordable. _____ From: MoPo List [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Roland Lataille Sent: Wednesday, January 07, 2009 3:17 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [MOPO] buying a DVD RECORDER Why would you be looking for a Blu-ray recorder for TCM? TCM is not in HD so, you would be getting the same picture quality with a regular DVD recorder. --- On Wed, 1/7/09, Michael B <[email protected]> wrote: From: Michael B <[email protected]> Subject: [MOPO] buying a DVD RECORDER To: [email protected] Date: Wednesday, January 7, 2009, 2:58 PM i am seeking to buy a DVD Recorder............... a year ago or so, the consensus here was to wait before spending a lot. i was hoping to buy a recorder with blue-ray recording. however, most recorders do not record in blue-ray. a few play in blue-ray, but record without blue-ray. and i dont want the stupid system that includes VHS. i saw an LG brand on the internet for about 325.00 that plays in blue-ray but records NOT in blue-ray. i want it to record B&Ws of the 40s/50s from Turner Music Classic channel. (presently, i store my movies on the cable company box.) Panasonic and Sony announced recording and playing in blue-ray machines will be available in a few weeks, but at about 1500!!!! suggestions? that LG system seems to what i am leaning to. thanks michael _____ Listen to 350+ music, sports, & news radio stations FREE while you browse.Start Listening Now <http://toolbar.aol.com/aolradio/download.html?ncid=emlweusdown00000022> !
