As for the show, the production values were better than the content, just like most of the movies.
As a complete non-fan of Hollywood's "prestige" offerings - AMERICAN BEAUTY, CRASH, BENJAMIN BUTTON, etc. - and as a firm believer that the best of the "action" (and sometimes animation and other technique-heavy) films come closer to what the movies are really about and what contemporary film makers do best - I was particularly disappointed to see the effects awards also going to the boring movies.
