There's no guarantee that the spam came from Judith, just because her name was in the "From" field. It's very common for viruses to disguise their host's true identity by picking an address at random from the infected computer's address book and inserting it into the "From" field, then mailing out copies of itself and/or some spam to all the addresses in the address book. It's entirely possible that somebody else has Judith and MOPO in their address book and the virus just happened to pick Judith's name for the "From" field, then mailed out the spam to all of us via MOPO. Ways to avoid infection for Windows users are to not use Internet Explorer as your web browser, not use Outlook as you email client or move to a Mac or Linux computer.

This fakery of the "From" field by the virus makes it a little tricky to identify the true origin without taking a look at the email's headers, and I deleted the message almost as soon as I received it so I cannot help there. Anybody else still have the message and want to take a go?

Yes, I guess I have a virus and one that antibiotics won't fix. I even ran a Norton Antivirus check and it shows that I have NO viruses or problems on my computer, but there is definitely something wrong. I'm not sure what to do now. Sorry for the inconvenience. All the best to MOPO-ers, Judith
