I'd tend to agree with Phil here. I think I have sold more pre-1920 posters
than well, just about anyone alive, and one thing the vast majority of them
have in common is that they mention they are for a MOVIE, because that was a
big draw back then.

Most posters from before 1920 that have no mention of movies or a movie
company are indeed for a theater show (often shows back then would travel
for a year or more), and they would take posters with them from town to
town, so they made nice ones).

The Passion Play was produced live annually forever in the town of Ober
Amergau in Germany, and also in many other parts of the world. I think
someone recently made a movie version of it, but I never caught it
(apparently it was very graphic, not in English, and perhaps anti-Semitic).
